Pizza Stuffed with Tuna

Ingredients(for 4 persons)

For the Dough:

  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 ½ tablespoon sugar
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 3 ½ cups flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup semolina

For the Topping:

  • 2 cans Rio Mare tuna in olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup colored bell peppers, small cubes
  • ½ cup spring onions
  • Salt and pepper
  • Chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup green olives,sliced

For the Tomato Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups tomato, diced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • ½ teaspoon garlic, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper


- Combine flour, yeast, sugar, salt and olive oil using the hook attachment of the electric mixer on a medium speed.

- Add water gradually; knead on medium speed forabout 10 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic.

- Grease a bowl with oil, place the pizza dough and turn it around to coat.

- Cover the bowl and let it rise for about 45 minutes or until it is doubled in size.

- Preheat oven to 180 degree Celsius.Sprinkle a baking sheet with semolina.

- Punch the dough down to deflate a bit. Place on floured surface.

- Shape dough into large circle (1 cm thickness).

- Cut from the center, towards the edge forming triangles making sure to stay away 3 cm from the edge.

- Combine tomato with olive oil, thyme, garlic, salt and pepper in a bowl; evenly distribute tomato sauce mixture on dough circle in a ring shape.

- Mix pizza toppings in a bowl and distribute over tomato sauce, top with mozzarella cheese.

- Fold dough from the center to the edge, covering the filling.

- Repeat to form a ring.

- Bake for about 20 minutes or until crust is golden and cheese is melted.

- Slice and serve warm.
